Science and research tells us that a child’s early years are more important than we ever knew – setting the foundations for learning, resilience and brain development. Through the delivery of a localised community education and mobilisation campaign, we want to encourage parents to learn more about child development and the routines that will help set their kids up for life.
Working with Logan Together partners, we have created resources and toolkits for our community to start conversations from topics like reading, through to preparation for starting school. Known as The Early Years campaign, we’re developing includes resources and toolkits for our community to start conversations with families and carers around a range of topics from reading and colouring to getting ready for Kindy and Big School.
Tools like our Early Years checklist give parents and carers practical advice and guidance on steps they will need to take to enrol their child in school while our Ready for Big School Chart shows parents and kids the developmental milestones that need to be considered before starting school.
Mobilising the community around the information and actions that make a difference to kids at each life stage is crucial to creating sustainable, long term change in Logan. The Early Years campaign is targeted at building community-wide knowledge and skills to foster behavioural change and empower individuals to personal action.
The Early Years resources have been distributed at our Family Fun Days and will be available on our website for you to print, use and share.
