As we move into a new phase of focus and action, we also welcome some new faces to the Backbone team.
Our Communications team is now comprised of three part time staff who collectively bring both specialist and strategic communication skills which will assist us in achieving greater impact.
Victoria Parker is a nationally awarded marketing communication professioanl with over 18 years’ experience working in the public and private sectors, with a particular interest in the community, housing, and property development industries. In addition to working with us, Victoria sits on the Board of the Lady Bowen Trust – a Queensland Government established entity that provides practical help to Queenslanders who are experiencing, or are at risk of, homelessness to stabilise their lives and build a better future. Victoria will lead the communications function within the backbone team.
Pete Cunningham is a communications strategist with over 30 years experience and a passion for social change. For the last 20 years he has worked across projects for government and non-government organisations at all levels ranging from problem gambling and family and domestic violence to the introduction of prep years and changes to senior schooling in Queensland. Campaigns under his direction for organisations as diverse as Griffith University and Queensland Health have been recognised nationally for their effectiveness. He has been a Board Member of the Australian Advertising Federation, the Australian Association of Social Marketing and United Way Queensland. Pete will lead the community mobilistion area within the backbone team.
Kathy Packenas is an award winning marketing communications professional with 12+ years experience. Kathy has a diverse skill set, and has worked across many industries. Kathy spent five years working at Youngcare, driving change for young people with high care needs, and brings with her a passion to change the landscape for Logan kids. She will work with Pete, Victoria and the Logan Together team to deliver effective communications.
Jen Kyriacou is a guru in the coordination and executive support arena, with a speciality focus on the not-for-profit sector. Jen is experienced in governance, business support, service provision, and all round support in various aspects of administrative support. She also looks after Matthew Cox’s calendar which means she must have some serious superpowers!
