Family Foundations: What’s Important
Getting the basics right at home makes a big difference for kids
It might seem like a no-brainer, but there’s oodles of evidence that children who experience childhood poverty are, on average, more vulnerable across a whole range of issues. So getting the basics right at home plays a big role in getting better outcomes for kids. Stable housing, jobs and a regular income, personal safety and overall personal wellbeing are important underpinnings for any efforts to support great outcomes for kids. That’s not to say that money is everything – engaged, kind parenting can overcome most hurdles – but poverty and instability make everything harder.
