Every Child.Every Opportunity.

Logan Together is a community movement committed to the wellbeing of every child in Logan, from pre-birth to 8 years of age.
Together, we are working towards a future where every Logan child is happy, healthy and thriving, now and for generations to come.

About Logan Together

Logan Together began in 2015 with a shared commitment to see Logan’s children happy, healthy and thriving, now and for generations to come.

Today, Logan Together is a community-led, place-based collective impact initiative committed to the wellbeing of every child in Logan, from pre-birth to 8 years of age.

We bring together community, government, services, business and philanthropy to improve outcomes for Logan’s children. By listening to, walking alongside and taking action with community, we work collectively to create the conditions for children and families to thrive.

Our role is to bring people, organisations and systems together around a shared vision for Logan’s children, so that community priorities, local strengths and evidence can shape long-term change.

Because lasting change happens when communities lead and systems work together.

Our Journey

Every movement starts with a conversation.

Logan Together has grown through thousands of conversations, shared decisions and collective action. Since 2015, community, government, services, business and philanthropy have worked alongside one another to improve outcomes for Logan’s children.

The milestones shared here offer just a glimpse of the people, relationships and collective effort that have shaped the Logan Together journey. We thank every contributor, collaborator, partner and friend of the movement, and most importantly the Logan community, for sharing your voices, experiences, ideas and actions along the way.

Every milestone represents people coming together, learning together and taking action together. While much has been achieved, our journey continues as we work towards our shared vision of every child in Logan being happy, healthy and thriving now and for generations to come.

Community shaped the journey before the work began.

2012 - A Community Calls for Change

What happened
Logan was facing significant social and cultural challenges including racial tension. Community leaders, residents, government and organisations recognised that lasting change would require a new way of working together.

Why it mattered
Rather than individual organisations trying to solve complex issues alone, Logan began exploring how collective action could create better outcomes for children and families.

Building a shared future.

2013 - Logan: City of Choice

What happened
More than 1,000 people came together to shape the Logan: City of Choice Two-Year Action Plan, focusing on employment, education, housing, safety and social infrastructure.

Why it mattered
This marked the beginning of a community-wide commitment to work differently and laid the foundations for what would become Logan Together.

We are Logan, together

2015 - Logan Together Movement Begins

What happened
Building on the City of Choice work, Logan Together was established as Australia’s largest collective impact movement focused on improving outcomes for children from pre-birth to eight years of age.

What changed
A dedicated backbone organisation was created to bring together community, government, business and services around a shared vision for Logan’s children.

Listening, learning and putting community at the centre.

2016–2018 - Building the Movement

What happened

Logan Together continued building the movement, bringing together community, government, philanthropy and partners around a shared commitment to improving outcomes for children and families. During this period, two important milestones helped shape the movement’s approach.

2017 — The Uluru Statement from the Heart

The Uluru Statement from the Heart strengthened Logan Together’s commitment to First Nations leadership, culture and self-determination. Guided by local Elders and community leaders, the movement continued learning what it meant to listen deeply, build trusted relationships and walk alongside First Nations communities. Yugambeh Traditional Custodians Aunty Robyn and Uncle Merv Riley were Logan’s local signatories and helped shape the Statement.

2018 – ChangeFest: Strengthening the Foundations

In 2018, communities from across Australia gathered in Logan for Changefest, creating a shared statement that recognised the people closest to the challenges are also closest to the solutions. The ChangeFest Statement helped inform Logan Together’s approach to place-based change. It reinforced the importance of working differently, sharing power and creating the conditions for communities to lead.

What changed

These milestones strengthened Logan Together’s commitment to First Nations First and community-led change. Community voice, lived experience and shared leadership became increasingly central to how the movement worked.

First Nations leadership guiding the way forward

Gnirigomindala Karulbo: First Nations Leadership

What happened

In 2018, Logan’s Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations including Jinndi Mibunn, Logan Elders and at that time, Gunya Meta, together with Traditional Custodian Aunty Robin Williams and respected Elders including the late Aunty Coral and Uncle Noel, played a central role in shaping this Changefest moment.

Their leadership laid the foundation for what is known now as Gnirigomindala Karulbo, the First Nations people who works with and advises Logan Together, and are at the heart of governance for Logan Together.

What changed

System change requires resourcing and collective effort rooted in First Nations cultural ways. Emphasizing working together, learning, practicing, and strengthening First Nations communities, the focus shifts from systemic racism to equity.

Collaboration involves people with skills, time, and commitment to transform systems, prioritize First Nations, and build new, culturally aligned systems for future generations.

Walking together in true partnership.

2019 - Walking Together for Logan's Children

What happened
Walking Together marked an important moment when First Nations leaders called on the wider Logan community including community members, government, philanthropy and key decision-makers to come together in Eagleby and explore a different way of sharing leadership, power and decision-making.

What changed
The event strengthened Logan Together’s commitment to First Nations leadership, shared decision-making and community-led systems change.

Building stronger foundations for long-term change.

2019-2021 - Strengthening the Movement

What happened

In 2019, investment through the Australian Government’s Stronger Places, Stronger People initiative supported Logan Together to strengthen its backbone, governance and long-term approach.

During this period, Logan Together also became a legal entity, creating greater local accountability and a stronger foundation for the future.

When COVID-19 disrupted families, communities and services, Logan Together and its partners adapted quickly, drawing on trusted relationships, collaboration and local knowledge.

What changed

This period marked a shift from coordinating programs and partnerships towards creating the conditions for deeper systems change, shared learning and community-led action.

Turning community voice into shared priorities and action.

2021–2022 - Listening to Community

Reimagining the early years together.

2022–2023 - Logan's First 2000 Days

What happened
Community identified the need for a more connected early childhood system that worked alongside families rather than expecting families to navigate fragmented services.

What changed
Logan’s First 2000 Days model was co-designed to bring together five initiatives, five enablers and focused supports into one integrated system around children and families.

Communities leading change from within.

2023-Today - Focus Communities

What happened

The Focus Community Strategy was established in 2021 in response to calls for communities to have a stronger role in decisions affecting their lives.

From 2023, it expanded into its current form, supporting five Focus Communities to develop local governance, shared priorities, Collective Plans and Roadmaps.

Each community is unique but connected through the Logan Together Backbone Team and Focus Community Network, enabling communities to share learning and resources.

Focus Communities now include:

What changed

Rather than applying one approach across the whole city, Logan Together began working more deeply alongside communities to support locally led priorities and solutions. This created greater opportunities for community members to shape decisions, lead change and contribute to broader systems change across Logan.

A movement continuing to grow.

Today - A Movement Growing Together

Today, more than 30,000 people have engaged with the Logan Together movement.

Together with community, First Nations leaders, partners and government, we continue to strengthen Logan’s early years system through shared leadership, community voice and collective action.

Our journey continues – and every conversation, partnership and community leader helps shape what comes next.

The Story Continues

Logan Together’s story is still being written. Every family, Elder, organisation, partner and community member who chooses to walk alongside one another becomes part of this movement.

Together, we continue creating the conditions for every child in Logan to be happy, healthy and thriving, now and for generations to come.
