Building Logan’s Collective Plan

The Collective Plan

On Friday 14 October 2022, Logan residents, service providers, government leaders, academics, and funders came together for Splash! — a day to shape a shared plan so every child in Logan has the opportunity to be their very best.

Splash! was a chance to reflect on the 1000 Voices collected across Logan in 2021–22. Together, we brought our experiences, data and ideas into one space, and used this collective wisdom to build the roadmap for Logan’s future.

Our Process

Splash! was co-designed with our community, government, and service sector partners. The event focused on:

  • Reaching a collective plan.
  • Identifying what matters most to our community.
  • Understanding how success should be measured.

Above all, it was about being community-led — with community members sharing in both decision-making and accountability.

The Workshop

At Splash!, community members, government agencies, academics, service organisations, and others came together to explore four key questions:

These conversations gave us a snapshot of community priorities and the challenges we face.

1. What hopes and dreams do you have for Logan’s young children?

2. What gets in the way of achieving these hopes and dreams?

3. What helps children thrive in Logan? (and why?)

4. What is one thing we could do together to make these hopes and dreams real?

From Voices to Action

In preparation for Splash!, the answers gathered through the 1000 Voices initiative were organised into the ARACY Nest domains. At the workshop we:

  • Explored community voices, local data, and evidence of what works for children.
  • Worked in small groups across the Nest domains.
  • Identified priorities based on:
    • lived experience
    • the 1000 Voices of Logan
    • hard data on what matters for children in Logan

Shaping the Collective Plan

By the end of the day, each table had identified their top 5 priorities and signs of success. These were displayed in a gallery for everyone to review.

Community members then voted on the ideas they felt were most important.

From this process, we built the core ingredients of Logan’s Collective Plan — a plan grounded in community voice, evidence, and shared commitment.
